This past week Mariah Carey brought her hugely successful Christmas Tour over to the UK for the first time. Mariah Carey came over with her full US band, background vocalists and dancers, and she was careful not to leave out home-grown singers, with London based gospel choir, Uplifted Voices securing the prestigious slot.

The shows were opened by former Westlife star Mark Feehily, and UV Talent’s Uplifted Voices joined her for the duration of the UK tour performing at venues such as Manchester Arena and The O2 in front of 20,000 Mariah fans.

In typical Mariah Carey style, the show was a full-on,  Christmas celebration, complete with a Christmas tree, snow and Santa! Mariah performed songs from her two Christmas albums, as well as throwing in a few of her well-known hits such as ‘Hero’, Carey also performed her new song, the theme tune for this year’s Nativity animation, The Star.

Uplifted Voices first took to the stage in brilliant white robes to join singer-songwriter and Carey’s longtime backing vocalist, Trey Lorenz, as he performed his foot stomping, soul-stirring, Churchy version of ‘Jesus, O What A Wonderful Child’. The choir supported him with strong choir vocals and lively choreography.

Mariah Carey then returned to the stage to sing ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Joy To The World’ with the choir holding candles for the first song and performing high energy choreography for the second song.

After belting out more popular Christmas songs and hits, the show ended with Carey returning to the stage with the entire cast for an encore. Performing her biggest hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, now named UK’s favourite Christmas song (The Independent) Uplifted Voices returned to the stage, in an outfit change of the perfect Christmas choir robes, singing, clapping and dancing to end what was a very memorable show.

UV Talent were happy to have collaborated with Ryan J. Bruce in recommending them as we continue to support UK talent!
